  2. Tornado is fun for a bit, but once they start burying their great initial concept in a morass of extra moves and stupid levels (like a level where a giant bad tornado is bumping you around while the clock keeps on running), it loses its joy.

  6. Overall, Tornado is a good game marred by some intentional annoyances. It's a wonder why the developer chose to include them in the first place. Rent this one first.

  10. So while I can understand what Tornado is trying to go for, I never really found it all that fun to play.

To be fair, there’s also a sandbox-like, “just suck it all up” mode that unlocks when you’ve beaten each level, as well as a two-player versus mode that finds you racing to suck things up or change the color of crystals (which earned it a bonus point in our score below). But Tornado still just doesn’t have the suction to hold us for long.
  12. There's a nice idea in the eye of this storm, but Tornado's harsh time limits and general repetition rip up its reputation.
  13. At first the game will get your sympathy. It looks nice with it's 3D surroundings and cute looking cartoon characters, but it won't take long before the very, very bad game concept destroys everything that you might like. Tornado offers little less than looking around for objects and remembering were they are when you need them a second time. On top of that you hardly see anything of the surroundings, resulting in a well earned insufficient grade.

  15. Tornado is a mess of a game, with one gem of a mode buried under a piled of stinky, stinky trash.
  16. I would not recommend Tornado at all. It’s a decent concept (one we’ve seen before) but is executed in an extremely frustrating manner.
  17. Spending time on playing Tornado has been very unrewarding for me. Even after finishing the game, I didn’t feel like I had accomplished anything. To me, it felt more like a warmed up glass of beer on a hot summer day. Tornado simply doesn’t meet the demands of a videogame in the year 2008, so my advice to you is this: let this game blow over, and wait for something else.

    Tornado seemed like a good time, but nonsensical missions and time limits killed the game. Don't be fooled by its shiny exterior. This tornado spins itself out.
  19. Tornado is more of a shame than a disappointment. The Katamari Damacy style gameplay could have been a perfect fit on the DS. It boggles the mind that someone somewhere within the development team didn't notice how much strain constantly drawing circles puts on your wrist.

  22. Tornado is a title that started with a solid base of fun gameplay mechanics and interesting level design and then buried it under a mound of inexplicably terrible design faults that seem like they were created to generate annoyance.
  23. Tornado is one of the worst DS games we’ve played in quite a while. An interesting concept ruined by an impenetrable single player and a crippling control scheme. Avoid like the plague.

    The tornado concept had potential but poor game design choices such as constant circling, no instant retry and a time limit so harsh you will fail more than you succeed have made it a frustrating game that completely forgets the core concept of games - fun and enjoyment.
