Therefore, the bottom line is that if you could not get into the original Touch Detective, 2 1/2 will not change your mind. However, if you enjoyed the first game, you'll definitely want to pick this one up.
Touch Detective 2 1/2 really feels like the game that the original should have been, providing for an experience that I'm sure more people will enjoy this time around. [Nov 2007, p.78]
Just try not to think so much and you'll enjoy the unravelling of the unorthodox capers.
Touch Detective 2 1/2 is essentially the same as the original title, albeit with some brand new cases and puzzles. If you were a huge fan of the first game, then Touch Detective 2 1/2 is right up your alley.
What Touch Detective is still missing, however, is the ability to really connect with the gamer, as puzzles – while better this time around than last year – still rely more on hitting a specific event trigger than actually figuring out direct, challenging puzzles.
Okay, so: few improvements over the first game, a convoluted overarching storyline, painfully simplistic gameplay.
A few small tweaks, overlapping missions and a reduction of redundant verbosity and this could be as exciting and addictive as old school adventure games. It'd be destined for the bargain bin if wasn't already as hard to find in a store as objects are to find in the game.
