  1. Squad Command smartly separates the live battle scene from a comprehensive map on either of the DS's dual screens, and both stylus and button controls are intuitive. [Jan 2008, p.87]
  2. The lack of a grid is probably the biggest pull-down for this game; if it had been a bit more structured, it could have really been great. But that problem doesn't negate all the good things about this game. It's still addictive, and it's still fun. Squad Command may not be the best strategy game out there, but it's by no means the worst.
  3. I would like to think that I'm a patient person, Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command pushes the limits of doing nothing without any gameplay.

Poor manual! Nice graphics for DS... No grid and unable to rotate camera but a lot of fun. Replay: maybe.

Strictly average. Damage model is simplistic at best and illogical at worst; some weapons are definitely out of balance. Destructible terrain is a great feature. Graphics are not suited to the DS. Interface is good overall, but don't use the stylus or you'll occasionally make accidental movements when switching units. Make no mistake, this is not WH40k X-Com. If you want a better game of the same exact style, find the old Chaos Gate for the PC. Expand
