Poor manual! Nice graphics for DS... No grid and unable to rotate camera but a lot of fun. Replay: maybe.

Strictly average. Damage model is simplistic at best and illogical at worst; some weapons are definitely out of balance. Destructible terrain is a great feature. Graphics are not suited to the DS. Interface is good overall, but don't use the stylus or you'll occasionally make accidental movements when switching units. Make no mistake, this is not WH40k X-Com. If you want a better game of the same exact style, find the old Chaos Gate for the PC. Expand

Squad Command is far from perfect, but it is also the closest thing to playing actual Warhammer 40K on a videogame system. Turn-based strategy enthusiasts will definitely want to check this game out, and if you are a Warhammer fan then it is really a no-brainer.
  2. Squad Command smartly separates the live battle scene from a comprehensive map on either of the DS's dual screens, and both stylus and button controls are intuitive. [Jan 2008, p.87]
  3. The visual downgrade from the PSP to DS version make this a better bet on Sony's platform. Still, if you're a DS owner who's already conquered Advance Wars multiple times over, and are tiring of the brimming mini-game and sim line-up, you might appreciate this turn-based tactical title.
