Every DS gamer should give it a whirl, regardless of their design ambition, even if just to get a sense of what wacky creativity lies in the minds of their fellow gamers.
  2. For anyone interested in game or music design, this lets you be creative in a new way. Superb. [May 2010, p.78]
  3. 90
Even if the interface is over-designed, this is the closest thing to a true evolution to Mario Paint this generation might see.
  4. It's limited in many regards, but it's also a near-perfect fit for the handheld space.
  5. WarioWare D.I.Y. is one of the best game creation tools we've yet witnessed and deserves to be picked up by each and every DS owner without hesitation.
  6. While not without its limitations, WarioWare: Do It Yourself provides creative handheld gamers with a wide range of excellent game-creating tools. If you've ever entertained the idea of making your very own microgames, you'll find tons of entertainment in Wario's latest outing.
  7. games(TM)
Every step of the way, you'll feel the classic Nintendo touch. [Issue#96, p.98]

I love WarioWare D.I.Y. as a creative outlet: game builders have been around since the '80s but this is the first time I found myself truly engrossed in the process of building a game from scratch because of how simple yet powerful it is.
  9. Fans looking to purchase WarioWare D.I.Y. simply to play the microgames might be a bit disappointed with the lack of variety in the included titles, but those who are willing to put in the time and effort to become familiar with the creation tools will likely find a very powerful and rewarding gaming experience limited only by their imaginations and free time.
  10. Your enjoyment of WarioWare: D.I.Y. will really be dependent on what kind of a gamer you are. If you are playing this just for the games, you'll be pretty disappointed.
  11. Nintendo Gamer
Super simple create-a-game package done in cute WarioWare style. Poking fun at classmates, teachers, colleagues and grandparents has never been so good. [May 2010, p.62]
  12. Games Master UK
The potential for hilarity is immense. [July 2010, p.94]
  13. Using the simple, lighthearted game approach from WarioWare titles and pairing that with an actual use for the design tools in Mario Paint, Nintendo has brought us a great new tool for creating our own Microgames.
  14. Pelit (Finland)
Brings the evolution of the Warioware microgame series to its logical conclusion. The tools for creating microgames are surprisingly versatile but still easy enough to use. [May 2010]
  15. Everything you could ever need to create the best microgame on the planet is in Wario Ware D.I.Y. Even if the learning curve is steep, you will be amazed at how much freedom the game offers when it comes to creativity.
  16. Game Informer
WarioWare D.I.Y. is a commitment, but one that Nintendo made as intuitive and digestible as possible. [May 2010, p.96]
  17. Wario Ware Do It Yourself is what people have been expecting for a long time. The level editor is so simple that it amazes how different the microgames you can generate with it can be along with the melodies from the great music editor. You even have the option to upload them to the Internet or share it with your friends Nintendo consoles, Wii and DS. Your limit is your imagination.

Wario Ware: Do it Yourself is, for sure, a dream come true for many, as it allow us to develop our own minigames. But still, it has some limitations.
  19. 85
More than most games your personal level of satisfaction with WarioWare DIY will be directly proportional to what you expect out of it.
  20. Wario Ware is a game which has been created for those who want to develop video games, not for those who want to play. If you are interested in this kind of products, you'll be more than happy with DIY.
  21. If, however, you've always wanted to make your own WarioWare mini-games – or have had the desire to create any game at all – WarioWare: D.I.Y. is an impressive package that won't let you down.
  22. Nintendo Power
But what the title does provide is an amazing package and an excellent introduction to the world of game making. If you have a creative bone in your body, you'd do well to give WarioWare D.I.Y a try. [Apr 2010, p.82]
  23. WarioWare – Do It Yourself lets you design quick and simple mini games as if you were a real game designer. Its biggest asset is simplicity, but it might also be its biggest flaw.
  24. WarioWare D.I.Y. doesn't improve the series as far as gameplay, visuals, or multiplayer (which this game doesn't offer). Still, the ability to create micro-games of your own and share them with other players greatly expands the replay value of this title.
  25. If you're coming to this party, be prepared to play, just not in the traditional way. The 90-something built-in games are a paltry offering for the series, and the tap-only ethos really starts to wear on once you start to hit your stride as a designer. Still, the toolset is inspired, and those with a connected Wii and the ambition (and wallets) could potentially find their 15-miliseconds of fame.
  26. WarioWare: D.I.Y is another great game in the series, but in fact doesn´t improve the gameplay or the visuals. But we have the most important ability to create our own games with the easy creation tools included in the game. It has many microgames to enjoy, but a little lack of variety.
  27. 83
Creativity often thrives under the most severe limitations, and those who relish the opportunity to entertain others (or even just themselves) in videogame form will love WarioWare D.I.Y. It provides a detailed yet streamlined mechanism for creativity, meaning the challenge is in coming up with creative ideas rather than wrestling with the interface.
  28. All in all, WarioWare D.I.Y. is a worthy investment for anyone even remotely interested in the promise of level creation. For fans of more traditional WarioWare gameplay, there's... well... there's no such thing.
  29. WarioWare D.I.Y. contains the standard WarioWare, formula but it puts the creative tools in your hands in an effort to allow you to craft whatever microgames your mind can think of.
  30. Another effortless piece of cleverness, another modest marvel.
  31. You really can't complain about dull minigames in the latest Wario Ware, since you actually can create new ones yourself. And it's really advanced as well. And if you don't want to do it yourself, you can download other players collections and even some minigames from famous Nintendo creators. All in all, probably the best video game creator so far.
  32. The whole process quickly becomes hugely addictive.
  33. For those of us with purer nail-hitting, dog-poking and badger-stomping in mind, the pleasure will have to remain in the doing.
  34. Wario Ware : Do It Yourself is a true little digital drug, so addictive that you will easily miss its little flaws.
  35. Still, the pros far outweigh the cons in this game. Making your own WarioWare game is even more fun than it looks. It's especially cool to download the game's multitudes of free DLC microgames.
  36. The frantically paced stream of microgames is as fun as ever, and the option of creating your own games is nothing short of brilliant. The game creation tutorial is excellent, to boot.
  37. 80
Disappointingly, there's not a hell of a lot you can do with a completed game, aside from play it yourself.
  38. LEVEL (Czech Republic)
More developers' tools then game – but with a friendly approach and straight-forward tutorials these tools are very entertaining. True must-have for all creative individuals. [Issue#191]
  39. If you don't like the philosophy of "play, create and share", maybe you won't like D.I.Y.. But, still, the package of 90 microgames can be interesting.
  40. Wario Ware DIY is a micro game collection that offers you to create your own games. The editor is fun and the possibilities are almost limitless. Just a multiplayer mode is missing.
  41. This microgame collection includes dozens of games, but its focus is on empowering you to create your own.
  42. 80
Despite the learning curve and handful of microgames, WarioWare D.I.Y. is one of Nintendo's most ingenious and satisfying DS efforts, and we strongly recommend playing it on the DSi XL, where those big screens make it easier to draw and view your creations.
  43. If you're a fan of playing WarioWare and have no real desire to make your own games, this package is NOT for you. The simple, touchscreen-only nature of the pre-made games make them a bit of a drag, and, as mentioned above, getting other games is harder than it should be. Still, the tools are great and sitting down to build your own stuff is a faster and more rewarding process than you might initially expect.
  44. If you want to let your creative side loose, WarioWare D.I.Y. is a great game to do it with. Nintendo has given you, the gamer, the tools to make your own crazy micro-games, even if it takes an abundance of learning to accomplish
  45. 80
Art students, old-school gamers, and people with wild imaginations (and lots of free time) are going to love making their own masterpieces in WarioWare D.I.Y.., but if you have trouble drawing stick figures, you'll at least be able to enjoy a sizable new crop of fun, quick mini-games with tons of personality.
  46. The most complete, durable and rewarding creative tool that can be found, especially on a portable system. Only some A.I. limitations keep it from excellency, and the sense that this is more a creation tool than a real game.
  47. The 70 minigames ready to play are too simple to be entertaining as the ones of the previous episodes. The editor is complex and it does not let users express their creativity at its best.
  48. WarioWare: Do It Yourself inspires you creatively and subsequently gives you a peek into the inner workings of a game. All of the mini-games will be designed by you, so it all depends of how creative you are. It's a shame then that the mini-games don't have the endless options they appear to have at first glance. Still WarioWare: Do It Yourself is an interesting experiment and a stepping stone for all future game developers.
  49. Come into WarioWare D.I.Y. with the expectation of simply diving into a vast pool of ready to play microgames, and you'll be all wet. Understand that what you get out of this packed little toolbox is entirely dependent upon what you put into it, and you're starting to think like a game designer.
  50. Extremely easy to use interface and excellent tutorials. Download service sounds promising.
  51. Wario is at it again and this time he'll be your ally in creating your own entertainment in the form of minigames. The process of creating and sharing these micro experiences is easy and quick, but the miniature format of these experiences can also become a bit repetitive in the long run. If you're a creative person you'll have plenty of tools to keep you busy in this package.
  52. The fun you can get from Do It Yourself is totally dependent on the effort you want to put into making your own minigames. If you only want to play the little games, you can find much better games in the WarioWare series. But if you love making your own games, you'll find yourself engrossed in this game for weeks.
  53. There are good ideas here, and around 100 pre-made micro-games to play, but WarioWare: D.I.Y. ultimately reveals itself as an obscure, cluttered experience.
