  • Summary: Just when you thought you'd seen the last of them, the Black Hole Army is storming back in this sequel to the award-winning Game Boy Advance strategy game. With new COs under his command, Sturm is leading a new invasion force, and it'll take advance strategy to stop him!

  1. The increased difficulty and lack of a Tutorial mode may turn off newcomers to the Wars series, but the fun, depth, and replayability of this game make it a killer ap for the GBA just as much as the original.
  2. Packaged with a new, longer campaign, an expanded roster of COs, a bunch of new maps, and a new constructible unit, the game boasts plenty of original content.
  3. It might look old-fashioned, but Advance Wars 2 is incredibly satisfying, pleasingly intelligent and never less than tremendous fun, even when it gets horribly hard. [GamesMaster]
  4. Nothing has changed too much from the first title, but I spent over 100 hours with it, and thanks to the new editions that Intelligent Systems did include, I'm likely to do the same again.

The game is made for players looking for more of the same, not for players looking for "more." It's such an incremental improvement over the original that the number 2 in the title honestly doesn't deserve to be there.
  6. The sequel packs the same simple visuals and strategy system, but I think the rewarding gameplay's even better this time around. [July 2003, p.122]

Just like its predecessor, Advance Wars 2 is a great, excellently balanced, and super-fun strategy game, but it feels more like an expansion pack than a sequel. If you never played the first one, skip right to number two.

ABSOLUTELY one of the most addicting and worthwhile investments you can make for the GBA. I'm not a fan of war type games at all, or strategy games either for that matter. Advance Wars 1 and 2, however, got me into it. The reason I love the game is not only is campaign mode up for grabs, but like in the first one, you can just play deathmatches and make your own maps to keep you busy on road trips, etc. Also, there's an onslaught of new CO's, so you're guaranteed to find the CO that suits your strategy. Buy this game. Expand

It is more challenging than the first and it is more fun. If you liked the first one you definentily need to by this one, and if you didn't buy the first one this is a must by. Expand

Incredile game. Nintendo ought to make more games that contain the spirit and challange as Advance Wars. It is a great addition to any person's library of GBA games. Expand

How can something so small hold so much fun and depth? Unbelievable...but it does. In spades.
