  1. If you haven’t played this game, you need to. The game featured big tracks, jumps, engine heat, and a track editor. The only downfall was you couldn’t save tracks – the GBA fixes this.
  2. 80
Tons of people used to play this game in the arcade. It was cool then, and this version is the same, only smaller...and with a track designer. [Sept 2004, p.93]
  3. 75
Though the game's pulled off really well in the Famicom Mini version, the game has already been available twice on the the air's been let out of the tires just a bit. It's still a worthy and amazingly fun addition to the classic collection.
  4. It's not bad, but it doesn't quite have the same charm that it did when I was ten years old.
  5. It’s not the prettiest, nor the best sounding game around, far from it, but the gameplay gives it a heart and soul a lot of technically superior games can only dream of, making Excitebike relevant all these years after its original release.
  6. Pocket Games
Pure, unadulterated, giggle yourself senseless fun. [Summer 2004, p.15]
  7. A solid trip down memory lane for fans of the original NES game. But is that trip worth $20? Probably not. If Excitebike had been part of a larger compilation of NES classics, it would be much more welcome.
  8. 60
Undeniably dated and simple, and the action is a bit plodding and straightforward. Fortunately, the underlying gameplay is good enough that it won't betray the fond nostalgia of older fans.
  9. Nintendo Power
The track-design feature allows you to create your own racing environment. [July 2004, p.121]
  10. Its dated graphics and extremely simplistic gameplay will leave new players puzzled as to why so many people like the game.
  11. Play Magazine
The custom course editor is still a highlight, and better yet, now you can even save your courses. [Aug 2004, p.61]
  12. Cheat Code Central
Virtually every motocross game released for the GBA in the last three years is better than this one.
