The presentation is hideous. This is so bare bones I'm sure even a Russian would feel a little embarrassed about the lack of options, detail, story and gameplay. The music is terrible.

While Bandai's record with anime licenses is spotty at best, they always seem to devote ample time to the graphics—something fairly obvious when you see BattleSpirit in action.
  3. There are some neat visuals here and fans will certainly love choosing their favorite Digimon and battling against a friend in multiplayer mode, but this is a game that loses its appeal pretty quickly even for die hard fans.
  4. 65
A surprisingly fun game. It's just lacking in a lot of features one comes to expect from a fighter.
  5. Nintendo Power
Has similarities to the basic game play of the "Super Smash Bros." series. [Feb 2003, p.158]
  6. While this game is simplistic and dated, it holds the same kind of addictive fun as 'SSB. Even though the control is stiff, graphics are shoddy and sound is dismal, what the game offers is quite likeable, especially for fans.
  7. A mediocre fighting game. The unique battle system simply does not make up for the short and simple gameplay.
