  1. Enjoyable, addictive fun. The special effects are excellent, and the game features some of the standard elements of Game Boy RPGs, but does a very nice job of providing a little something extra.

The penalty for being beaten in combat is too severe when you consider that it's not all that difficult to die in battle.
  3. Offers fun adventuring while freshening up the critter-catching genre. [Feb 2002, p.154]
  4. It's both rewarding and frustrating. [Feb 2002, p.100]
  5. So inherently unfair it is guarenteed to test the patience of anyone. The rock-paper-scissors battles make combat 90% luck while the whole monster collecting sub-theme isn't very strong.
  6. To progress through the game and have it all stripped from you based on one battle is simply a horrible design decision and makes this otherwise brilliant game needlessly aggravating.

Love it! I got it for Easter years ago and went right on to playing it. Of course, now I've got to get a new game since its dissapeared.

It's only a "9" rated game to me if I can't lose to it. If I were you I would only play this game with a cheat device, because If It's only a "9" rated game to me if I can't lose to it. If I were you I would only play this game with a cheat device, because If you don't you could lose hours of work on a weapon or shield to a wimpy monster that only knows those awful one-hit-KO moves. I would recommend the money code for anyone taking my advice, since it is probably the only code you will need. It makes it a lot easier to recover from a loss. Expand
