  • Summary: Sudoku looks like a math problem, but it's not. The rules are simple: start with a grid consisting of nine three-by-three squares in which some of the numbers are already supplied. The rules are simple: start with a grid consisting of nine three-by-three squares in which some of the numbers are already supplied. Fill in the blank squares so that each column, row, and three-by-three grid contains a number from 1 to 9 with none repeated. The game features hundreds of puzzle problems, a tutorial mode, help for those moments when you really are stuck, the ability to 'pencil in' possible solutions, and a puzzle problem creation mode. 1. There really aren't any drawbacks to Dr. Sudoku, other than the fact that you can cheat if you want to throughout all one thousand boards.
  2. All in all, Dr. Sudoku is a fair to decent portable version of sudoku, albeit the game has some moderate faults in the presentation and some other annoyances here and there. If you're a fan of sudoku, you'll probably get your money's worth out of this game.
  3. If you're a sudoku fan or interested in what the fuss is all about, Dr. Sudoku gives you a lot of puzzles for your money.
  4. Dr. Sudoku has a decent set of features and a lot of prebuilt puzzles, but a D pad and buttons isn't the ideal way to play.
  5. 65
It's not a better option than snagging a five dollar book and a ten cent pencil, though.
  6. If you have a Nintendo DS, though, this game is easily passed by, and for one reason – Brain Age is the same price as Dr. Sudoku, and has far more than just Sudoku.
  7. If you have a yearning for pure sudoku in video game form, Dr. Sudoku will provide a cure, but more options and a sharper presentation would have gone a long way. [May 2006, p.94]
