It is sad when you figure that an older version of the same game is better, even slightly. They ported and somewhat modified the graphics (not the gameplay, more on that later) of the GBA version to the DS, and it didn't work. I already did a review of that game. This one, though, fares better because it looks and feels better, like it was meant for that system. Those are the only praises I can give as it is the same old boring dungeon crawler with no story, boring characters, terrible art, and gameplay that hasn't been innovative since the 90s. A good attempt from a budding company? Maybe. But they have to up their game if they want to make a dent in this industry. Too flat, too common, not enough effort. Do not buy. Expand

  1. It really is like taking a step back in time and discovering a classic game that you never played, yet has been updated graphically and influenced by more recent games.
  2. Mazes of Fate is a classic example of a lovingly crafted yet off-beat GBA title – it might smell a bit iffy but the gameplay can be truly intoxicating.
  3. At least MoF is easy to get into, furnishing the player with plenty of quests and side-quests for the checklist-happy RPG fan.
