  1. With the most gameplay in a single title for the Game Boy Advance, it’s hard to pass this title up... If you’re a fan of RPGs, you obviously MUST have this title.
  2. GMR Magazine
These are fantastic (albeit amazingly difficult) games that every RPG should experience. [Feb 2003, p.75]
  3. I can not stress how much you need to stop reading this and go pick up this game now! There have been only a few good RPG’s released since GBA launch, this game makes it one more.
  4. Pocket Games
Huge bang for the buck for old-timers or newbies. [Spring 2003, p.36]
  5. There simply hasn't been a Game Boy Advance game with this much gameplay to date.
  6. Phantasy Star Collection can last you for over 100+ hours of pure RPG bliss over the three games.
  7. It would have been nice to see an automap feature for the dungeons in PS1, but all things considered, PS Collection is one of the best compilation titles to hit the GBA yet.
  8. Electronic Gaming Monthly
It's hard to complain when you're getting two classics (and "PSIII") at such a bargain price - just be prepared for a challenge. [Feb 2003, p.158]
  9. Game Informer
Much like "Tetris," this game has unrivaled depth. Just getting through all of them will consume hundreds of hours. [Feb 2003, p.108]
  10. 80
The titles also have difficulty levels that no company would dare set their games to today; nearly every encounter is a life-and-death struggle in the first two.
  11. I've already seen it done before - and quite possibly done better.
  12. 77
A collection of three games -- two great and one good -- that isn't up to snuff for a GBA comp cart.
  13. GameNow
True RPG fans (like me) will eat this up. [Feb 2003, p.51]
  14. Nintendo Power
Since the pack presents the games in their original versions, the production values improve as you go from the first game to the third. [Jan 2003, p.176]
  15. Edge Magazine
This is a package filled with value and historic charm, but viewed devoid of nostalgic mist, the earliest installments of the series feel little more than average. [March 2003, p.106]
  16. But those of you with Zelda on the mind best ferret off elsewhere - this is a very different sort of Link To The Past.
  17. 60
A quick fix that gives you between 50 and 75 hours of gameplay for under $30, and as long as you don't mind wading through repetitious gameplay for some pretty decent stories, you just can't beat the value of the title.
  18. 60
Although these games don't compare to their modern console counterparts, well-developed characters and complex stories compel you to see past the primitive graphics.
  19. Cheat Code Central
If you want a history lesson in RPGs then you owe it to yourself to look into Phantasy Star Collection, otherwise you might just want to continue on with new titles such as "Harvest Moon" and "Golden Sun."
  20. The Phantasy Star games are classic RPGs (yes, even the third one…which everyone seems to hate), and they deserved at least a little updating.
