  1. One of the true great puzzle games of recent years. Easy to pick up and play, and challenging enough for a puzzle game veteran.
  2. If nothing else, the four-player mode of the game is worth the entire purchase price. Highly addictive and fun, you’ll be playing this for hours.

A fantastic puzzle game that's enhanced simply by letting a development team exploit the Game Boy Advance's link capabilities as far as it can go.
  4. Puyo Pop achieves what a good puzzle game asks for, simple execution yet addictive and deep fun, adding a distinctly weird Japanese flavor to a premise that originated in Russia.

Outside of "Tetris," "Tetris Attack," and "Pokemon Puzzle Challenge," this is probably the best handheld puzzle game around. [Mar 2002, p.146]
  7. Nintendo Power

The graphics and music are cute, and the 18 levels of Puyo popping are frantic and challenging. [Mar 2002, p.137]

Great game, but it is an utter and complete rip off of Kirby's avalanche, almost down to the letter.
