Good fun in a nostalgic way, but younger gamers might not get what all the fuss is about.
Worthy of a look from nostalgic gamers from the 16-bit era as well as people who didn’t play these games the first time around.
Unfortunately, THQ changed absolutely nothing, which means that "Golden Axe," in particular, looks and sounds extremely dated." [Dec 2002, p.150]
It's a good thing "Ecco" is basically tolerable, it's the only game in this collection that keeps the entire thing from stinking.
The biggest complaint is that the games suffer from slowdown, especially when the scrolling can't keep up to the speed of the character.
The ports themselves are weak, perhaps the victim of an unrealistic development deadline, and the games aren't actually all that classic.
