  1. With no multiplayer, however, Wolfenstein doesn't seem as attractive when compared to another classic GBA rerelease. [July 2002, p.93]
  2. With 66 levels, only four weapons and none of the cleverness of its Bam! brother "Ecks Vs Sever," this is one castle you won't be wanting to return to regularly. [GamesMaster]
  3. The confusing maze of 3-D hallways and rooms rotates and scales smoothly, while the sound effects are crude and rough. [July 2002, p.151]
  4. Like it or not, this is an old game, and the play mechanics are archaic by today's standards. [Winter 2002, p.36]
  5. Like it or not, this is an OLD game, and the play mechanics are archaic by today's standards. [June 2002, p.124]
  6. The game's optimal target audience would be younger players looking for an easygoing shooter, but the M rating and abundance of swastikas pretty much excludes the majority of this group, save for those with open-minded parents.
  7. The underlying problem is that despite being the originator of the first-person shooter, Wolfenstein 3D just doesn't hold up nearly ten years after its original release as PC shareware.

The worst FPS available for the GBA is Wolfenstein 3D. It's not the worst by much, Medal of Honor: Underground is pretty darn close. Wolfenstein 3D was the fifth FPS released for the GBA but the first FPS ever to be released for any system. Bringing this title back from the dead probably wasn't such a good idea with games like Ecks Vs. Sever competeing with it. Doom and Duke Nukem were old games coming back to life on the GBA but those turned out so darn good. Those games featured beautiful graphics. Wolfenstein 3D's are just plain outdated and ugly, however not as ugly as Medal of Honor: Underground's. The game features the original 60 levels and 4 weapons. Only 4? Yes, I know, there were only 4 in the original but that is to little. This game is even outdated on the Game Boy. The game is still fun but there are a lot of better choices in the FPS genre for GBA. Trust me. Expand
