  1. The challenge of this game will bring out the best or the worst in a gamer, a true test of ability and skill. All of this is given to us with a great story, memorable characters, vivid settings, all wrapped up in a presentation that's second to none.
  2. With excellent control, track design, graphics, sound, and customization, this is clearly the best F-Zero game in the series, and one of the best games on GameCube overall.
  3. Few games deserve the high praise we're willing to lavish on F-Zero GX. Finely tuned, tightly balanced and exceedingly fun, it is a step above and beyond any similar games that have come before.

I couldn't stop playing F-Zero GX. It's refreshing to see a racing game ditching the sim elements that seem to be a prerequisite nowadays in favor of more arcadey gameplay. [Oct 2003, p.46]
  5. 100
From a graphical standpoint, the game is mind-blowing. The characters and vehicles all look good, but what's really impressive is the backgrounds around each race and how fast they go screaming by.
  6. No other racing game even compares to F-Zero GX - it's a next-next-gen cyberrace before its time. [Oct 2003, p.137]
  7. May well be the perfect GameCube title. With its amazingly complex racing model even experienced gamers are in for a substantial learning curve and newcomers to the series will be in for quite a shock. Visually stunning and a total blast to play.
  8. Unparalleled lightening fast gameplay.
  9. It's deep, it's visually stunning in the fact that it has a background to judge the incredible speeds, and what is more, it controls so bloody intuitively that Amusement Vision was able to create some truly mindbending tracks with which to torture you.
  10. The track design is so unique and so incredibly cool that you won't believe it at first. There are more twists, turns and thrilling surprises (both graphical and gameplay-related) that you'll be in a state of shock for the first 20 minutes of play.
  11. Truly the master of high-speed, high-fun racing. This is one of those games you run out to by a new system for.
  12. I absolutely worship the Green Plant: Intersection level. For that level alone this game is worth it.
  13. Speaking of unlockables, diehard players will find it near impossible to get everything.
  14. The gameplay is sumptuous, and is helped along considerably by a smooth learning curve and a constant 60fps update. The biggest surprise of all, and one which we've mentioned several times, is the depth the game has to offer.
  15. A fantastic game, but it's not for the weak of heart, or for racing newbies. If you don't fit into either of these categories, you'll have an absolute blast with F-Zero GX.
  16. 93
Its sense of speed is unparalleled, its control mechanics unmatched, its level design mesmerizing, and its graphics and audio presentations superb.
  17. At the end of the day, F-Zero GX is a speed-freaks dream come true. On top of being fast, Fast, FAST, FZ has great racing options, insane tracks, snappy control, a brilliant customize feature, and the ever-important fun factor.
  18. 93
Few games leave my hands sweaty and clenched around the controller like F-Zero GX does. The difficulty level may scare away some new players (and maybe even some old ones), but it's a fun ride even when you're not winning.
  19. 92
Breathtaking visuals, pumping soundtrack and the creation of ultra speed are the perfect complement with the awesome track design and adrenaline charged competition.
  20. Incredibly fast, outstandingly brilliant, and wonderfully rewarding to play. The intense difficulty curve only adds to the gameplay experience. Each race that is won feels even more impressive because it had to be earned.
  21. Exhilarating and beautiful... For as much as the game is about speed and visual impact, it is also about feel and the overlooked art of track design. The game slams you in your seat, but it's also infused with the kind of stubtlety and attention to detail that only truly talented developers can muster. [Sept 2003, p.74]
  22. What sets this apart from all other racing games is the immense speed of the game, which will make you dizzy sometimes, and the fact that there are 29 people racing against you.
  23. So-so bonuses notwithstanding, there's just nothing else like this on the GameCube.
  24. 90
This version should be rightly deemed as the definitive racing game of this generation, and one of the best ever made. [JPN Import]
  25. F-Zero is finally running on hardware that can do it proper justice, and Sega makes GameCube sing. [Oct 2003, p.63]
  26. No matter how much is going on at any given time, the frame rate is a rock solid 60, and for a game as fast as this that's a godsend.
  27. There is enough on offer in single-player to keep you busy for weeks, and the lifespan is stretched even further thanks to the Time Trial mode.
  28. Everything we hoped it would be. While the excessive speeds on some courses can approach eye-melting territory, this only becomes a problem on a couple of tracks, and even then it only encourages better course knowledge and use of boosts. [Oct 2003, p.120]
  29. This F-Zero leads the rest of the F-Zero franchise in terms of Graphics, Gameplay, Options, and Lastability, just that alone makes it at the very least a very worthy rental, even if you aren't into racers.
  30. In short – it will kick your ass. However, each time that you lose, you know that you could have done better. You don't lose because the AI cheats. Oh no. You lose because you simply weren't good enough.

F-Zero has a cool graphical style and a megaton of collectibles to unlock. However, these assets ultimately wilt when faced with ball-breaking difficulty and over-sensitive, twitchy controls. I loved the SNES and N64 F-Zero games. They were fantastic! This one is probably best avoided unless you're either hardcore into the franchise or a sado-masochist. Full Review »

If any of you guys a racer was more crazy then this game, you thought wrong. This is easily one of the best and downright craziest racing games ever made. The music is excellent, the visuals are the best on the GameCube (they compare to visuals from the 7th gen as well), the racing is high-octane and a great multi-player. The story however, is not that good (though it does not matter in a racer) and the game is just brutally difficult. This game is just fun in every sense of the word. Very hard, but extremely fun. Highly recommend it. Full Review »
