  • Summary: If you enjoy simulation-style football games that play well, have incredible depth, and look great, Madden 2002 is your game.

But what really takes Madden forward are the great extras, which this year include a Two-Minute Drill mini-game, create-a-player, -team, or –league modes, Coach’s Challenge, and more.

Madden NFL 2002 not only plays an incredibly deep and solid game of football, but it showcases the system's versatility for handling a fast-paced sports simulation.
  3. Its game play is just sick and that’s combined with some fine graphics and awesome off field depth.
  4. Harder to control than it should be. I love both the Xbox and GC controllers (a rarity, since most gamers like one, but hate the other), but Madden was not developed for either of them.
  5. It takes sound football strategy and patience to be successful, so when you finally beat the game on All-Pro mode, you know you’ve accomplished something big. [Feb 2002, p.164]

A port of the already-released PlayStation 2 game, but for once it's an improved version at that.
  7. If you have the PS2 version of the game, it may not be money well spent trying to gain some visual improvements at the cost of some game speed and a more convoluted control scheme.
