  1. That’s a ton of content, and yes, that content is a lot of fun since the simple platform-centric gameplay still holds up extremely well.
  2. Packed with tons of nostalgia, unique weapons (including the suspiciously fanciful "Top Spin"), and more hardcore 2D shooting and platforming than you can shake an arm cannon at. [July 2004, p.111]

What Mega Man Anniversary lacks in technology and convolution, it more than makes up for in mechanical brilliance, loveable characters, a compelling art direction, and an abundance of robotic charm.
  4. It would have been nice to have some remixed tunes in-game, as well as the Mega Man X games, but, regardless, you can't go wrong with this Collection.

It stands proud as an example of how all retro collections should be compiled in terms of content, even if it does serve to highlight minor presentational niggles such as the lack of a button config option that are often common to these packs.
  6. The virtually faithful ports are a classic-gaming junky's dream come true.

Unsurprisingly, playing through this Anniversary Collection is much like listening to a ten-album Grateful Dead box set: it's very good for what it is, and some of titles included are genuine masterpieces. But taken together, the monotony is almost overwhelming.

Sounds like infamous X-Box 'fanboy' site, GameSpy, is a little upset over the whole "PS2 and GameCube only" compilation. Don't worry, the display is perfect, and the menu screens are well-produced. Stick to X-Box, GameSpy - there's no point complaining when non-X-Box owners know not to listen. Expand

If your an older gamer, then you'd probably played some of these games, you'll want to pick it up, and get reaqquainted with the blue bomber. If your a younger gamer, like me, and want to get a piece of some older games, you should pick it up. I warn you, this game is very challenging and it will leave you often frustrated. You'll end up playing the same areas over and over again, and the bosses are tough, like the rock monster from megaman 1. Overall, this is a excellent mix of megaman 1 through 8 and even 2 extra games. There aren't that many unlockables, but what the heck, the sheer fun is still intact. Expand

Excellent collection with good extras. But the extras could have been better, and the jump & shoot buttons seem reversed.
