  1. With a revamped Dynasty mode, a new batting system, and my favorite feature, Big Play Control, MVP Baseball 2004 is the complete package. [Apr 2004, p.73]
  2. The most enjoyable baseball game I've ever played, and that includes "High Heat." [May 2004, p.120]
  3. Solid in every department, this one will be hard to top simply for the fact that it has very few weaknesses. While other entries might feature better stat-tracking or deeper Dynasty modes, they’ll be hard-pressed to be as well-rounded as MVP.
  4. If there's one department in which MVP can't be beat, it's player animations. From the plate to the mound and out into center, these guys move with a jaw-dropping grace and fluidity.
  5. Gamecube owners, you are unfortunately left in the dark for online play this year. This can become a horrible burden, as it is a hassle to try and manually complete all the trades for each team so your rosters are correct with the times.

Offers super graphics, intuitive and deep gameplay, and one heck of a Dynasty mode.

The visuals immediately draw you in, with some of the best motion-capture animation seen on the diamond to date, but the gameplay is what keeps you coming back.

Controls are intuitive. The game allows the player to have lots of control. For instance, unlike in most baseball games, you can control how hard you want to your fielders to throw the ball. Player motions are fluid, so you can dive or throw, knowing that your player will move react as soon as you press the corresponding button. Also, MVP 2004 allows you to play with minor league teams, adding a whole new dimension to it's dynasty mode (aka season mode). In addition, MVP 2004 becomes so much fun once you unlock all the old-timers. Drawbacks: Learning to hit the ball properly can be a bit difficult; minor league teams are comprised mainly of made-up players; only a few minor league stadiums available. Expand

The gameplay is all right except that the computer can make every play while the controls are to tight for you. Using the C stick for dives in the direction of the ball can make you dive a whole different direction and while the ball is in a line drive formation you can end up sliding etc. This game has clunky controls total The graphics are not good for 2004, and videogames from 2001 look better than this! The stands are horrible. You notice the same guy sitting down every 4 seats. Not to mention the ugly backgrounds behind the stadium. The sounds are basically the announcers saying the same quotes over and over. "He needs that sinker to sink" or "He stuffed him fatter than a thanksgiving turkey." The good thing this game offers is its full season dynasty mode. Besides that, I would not recommend unless you wouldn't mind how much work was put into this game. Expand
