  1. The frenetic, out-of-control battles take no time to warm up to, but fighting enthusiasts will probably shudder at the game's simplicity.

With such a rich source for inspiration, the characters are fantastically realised.
  3. The cel-shaded graphics are crisp and fit this title perfectly. [JPN Import]
  4. Bottom line: A three day rental would definitely give you an insight into how much longevity you'll wring out of Naruto: Clash Of Ninja in the long run.
  5. Straightforward pick up and play battling with insane Jutsu moves and lots of spirit in tow, this one is sure to entertain every time you boot it up.
  6. While the game offers little to strive for in terms of hidden content or special endings, Clash of Ninja is worthy of continued play in and of itself.
  7. 80
A landmark in what some might consider more "casual" fighting games. Not only is it great fun, but it's the best fighting game on GameCube (sorry, Smash Bros is not a traditional fighting game), and one of the best 3D fighters around.
  8. 79
It's something of a gateway through which future Naruto games will arrive, once the fandom has a chance to fully develop on this side of the ocean.

A great example of how licensed products should be presented. The game plays great, looks exactly like the show, and brings life to the characters in a big way. Naruto addicts should pick this one up for sure.
  10. It doesn't add a whole lot to the fighting genre, but it's a rewarding game with a well-tuned fighting system and loads of replay value. [May 2006, p.91]
  11. It allows fans of the series to play as their favourite shinobi warriors and do it in style. After extensive time with the 2-player mode, it becomes pretty obvious that the game is geared more towards button-mashers, but, if you're a big Naruto fan, this game is for you.
  12. Naruto: Clash of Ninja is a pretty fun game that would have been a lot better with more depth in the fighting controls.
  13. Naruto: Clash of Ninja has very little to offer as a fighting game, but there's a decent amount of fun to be had for those who appreciate the license.
  14. Fans will appreciate the good-looking characters and hard-hitting attacks, but Clash of Ninja is an experience cut short by a pervasive lack of depth.
  15. There's enough to unlock to keep young fans engaged but I was hoping for more TM Naruto action. [May 2006, p.54]
  16. For us older fans (especially those raised on the fansubs) and people with even a tiny knowledge of how fighting games work, one shouldn't even bother giving this a second look.

Naruto: Clash of Ninja is an engaging, energetic, button-smacking workout--whether you're a Naruto fan or not. [Apr 2006, p.31]
  18. The game won't keep you in terms of any kind of longevity, but it's an engaging enough fighter to keep you busy until the next hot GameCube title comes tumbling into stores.
  19. 60
Though this game does manage to shine in some aspects of the presentation, the actual gameplay doesn't manage to pass higher than ordinary.
  20. 40
What we have here is the most basic and elementary of fighting games. It's nothing to look at, listen to, or play.
  21. In the end there is not too much substance for the game. It is pretty fun, and even easy enough to pick up and play.

I'm a huge Naruto fan, but this game is absolutely crappy. There a only a few modes, hardly any characters, and almost no unlockables. AndI'm a huge Naruto fan, but this game is absolutely crappy. There a only a few modes, hardly any characters, and almost no unlockables. And because of this not much fun. No matter how much of a Naruto fan do yourself a favor and pass on this game. And if you want a fantastic Naruto game for your Gamecube pick up this games infinitely superior sequel. Full Review »
