80The play dynamic is still fierce, there are tons of extra modes and fantasy teams to unlock. It's still a great two-player game, and the slightly better single player experience should make most fans of the series happy.
-
It plays by its own rules and does so virtually flawlessly. The four-player mode guarantees plenty of replay value.
-
77Not as much of a Blitz game as it is as a lenient version of Madden. You've got fewer rules, harder hits, and the ability to tackle a guy for no reason other than to mess up his play.
-
They've gone the realism route, and the end result is a mixed bag. [Oct 2003, p.83]
-
70Out of the box it's not as fun as its predecessors, and nowhere near as deep or engaging as Madden or ESPN.
-
The inclusion of half-hearted simulation elements and toned down arcade gameplay result in Blitz Pro turning into a watered down shadow of its former self. Hopefully next years version will restore some glory to this now tarnished franchise.
-
Still a user-friendly pigskin experience with lightning-fast over-the-top gameplay. Yet I'm forced to throw a penalty flag at the lack of big passing plays I've come to love from this franchise. [Nov 2003, p.172]
-
65Unfortunately, this combination doesn't work nearly as well as its NHL predecessor, and, while the end result can be fun, overall it's a pretty big leap backward for the Blitz series.
-
Others will feel that the game plays like a watered-down "Madden." [Feb 2004, p.150]
