The play dynamic is still fierce, there are tons of extra modes and fantasy teams to unlock. It's still a great two-player game, and the slightly better single player experience should make most fans of the series happy.
  2. It plays by its own rules and does so virtually flawlessly. The four-player mode guarantees plenty of replay value.
  3. Not as much of a Blitz game as it is as a lenient version of Madden. You've got fewer rules, harder hits, and the ability to tackle a guy for no reason other than to mess up his play.
  4. They've gone the realism route, and the end result is a mixed bag. [Oct 2003, p.83]
  5. Out of the box it's not as fun as its predecessors, and nowhere near as deep or engaging as Madden or ESPN.
  6. The inclusion of half-hearted simulation elements and toned down arcade gameplay result in Blitz Pro turning into a watered down shadow of its former self. Hopefully next year’s version will restore some glory to this now tarnished franchise.
  7. Still a user-friendly pigskin experience with lightning-fast over-the-top gameplay. Yet I'm forced to throw a penalty flag at the lack of big passing plays I've come to love from this franchise. [Nov 2003, p.172]
  8. Unfortunately, this combination doesn't work nearly as well as its NHL predecessor, and, while the end result can be fun, overall it's a pretty big leap backward for the Blitz series.
  9. Others will feel that the game plays like a watered-down "Madden." [Feb 2004, p.150]
