Not exactly a brain buster, this game is good for hanging out with friends, eating, drinking, and yelling at the screen...just like a real game.
While [it] might not be as polished or have the better AI and all the bells and whistles of Madden, it is a very solid football game and offers up plenty of new and innovative features that Madden doesn't.

Even at the highest difficulty level the game provides little challenge.
We can't think of a legitimate reason to go out and buy this game. The Quarterback Challenge is admittedly enjoyable, but it doesn't add enough value to the game to make it worthwhile purchase.
Clipping is bad, commentary isn't very good, and there are really weird graphical bugs that occur quite frequently while playing.
The only thing that makes this PS2 incarnation fun is the Quarterback Challenge. [Nov 2001, p.160]

Summary The only football game with NFL Quarterback Challenge Mode, which features four head-to-head events: Speed and Mobility, Accuracy, Long Distance Throw, and Read & Recognition. Play as an active QB or as a retired great such as Elway, Marino, Young, Kelly, and Simms.
