It executes on the control and design elements of the experience much better than other, more recent platformers have.
  2. Quite a fun game, and anyone who's the least bit excited by the history of gaming and the sights and sounds that started it all should enjoy it.
  3. Definitely one of the best games I have played on Gamecube. Even the occasional camera problem didn’t hinder my enjoyment of this one.

The developers failed to develop a camera system capable of dealing with the 3D action. [Apr 2002, p.79]
  5. One of the best action-platformers ever. Not since the 2D Super Mario titles has a title captured technical jumps, tight balances, and split second timing so well.

    A nostalgia trip worth taking.
  7. I am not one to look a gift-horse in the mouth, what is there is fun -- and fun is fun.
  8. The only hitch the game has is a major pet peeve of mine. When you die, regardless of when you die in a level, you have to start it all over again, from scratch.

While lacking energetic personality and clever presentation, Pac-Man World 2 does just enough to entertain on its traditional platforming mechanics alone. [Apr 2002, p.56]
  10. Electronic Gaming Monthly

The only noticeable difference between this and the PS2 version of PMW2 is that the load time has been reduced significantly. [May 2002, p.113]
  11. Nintendo Power

The challenges are dutifully difficult [Apr 2002, p.147]
  12. While it doesn’t do anything new, it’s nice enough if you’re desperate for something in the colourful platform adventure genre. Sadly, it’s difficult for all the wrong reasons.
  13. While Pac-Man World 2 uses generally the same formula as most other platform games available today, it still manages to stay above the rest with brilliant use of Namco’s mascot and wonderfully produced sound.
  14. It's a shame more levels weren't built around these activities or the mazes, since the platform action gets tedious.
  15. The camera angle problems are not show-stoppers - Pac-Man is still fun to play and easy to pick up for the most part.
  16. The camera hampers the experience considerably, but the fun of the main game itself is still there.
  17. It doesn't have the graphics of say, Luigi's Mansion, but what it does it does well. If not for the camera problems it would seem that Namco has almost perfected it's own platformer formula.
  18. Essentially a good game hampered by some careless oversights. Some levels will force players to endure countless deaths (falling into bottomless pits), the camera system is archaic and some bosses are cheap as hell.

The game worksPac Man World 2 is a game full of vibrant settings, intriguing enemies, a great story and a unique and engaging control scheme. The game works as a brilliant third person platformer, and whilst it does get challenging at times and the camera could be improved, it is simply a whole lot of fun. Full Review »

The games alright, it's nice to play a 3d platformer, because these days they are getting less and less popular. I only played this game forThe games alright, it's nice to play a 3d platformer, because these days they are getting less and less popular. I only played this game for the first time this year, and it's pretty good. Some of the bosses though are simply... fajdifajogfajdofjioJOFIjfoijFIOj, if you know what I mean? Some parts in this game feel unfair also. Like if you grab onto the ledge of a falling object you can never get up, as it just keeps falling... The level before the final boss is long and annoying. The ground blends in with the muddy water so it is hard to see where you are walking. You only get 4 or 5 lives I believe when you respawn so you have to start the LOOOOONG level all over again. You see the level is an annoying maze. Then after that you have to fight another terrible final boss. Seriously, the FINAL boss is the last thing you remember from the game, and it is terrible. He just teleports constantly and spams projectiles. He can kill you just by hitting you with one projectile at times, as when he hits you with one he will keep spamming them so you are unable to get up. Also there is so much you have to watch out for, You have to run through enemies and fire that chases you, and the after-burn of his flreballs. It leaves smoke that when you step on it it will hurt you. You can get hit 4 times before death. Anyway if you are a completionist who likes 100% games, this game has so many things every level that for me it seems like it would take forever to 100%.. I can 100% games like Mario but this, there is just way too much you have to collect in levels. Not a flaw with the game, just too much for me to want to 100% it. It's also not good enough for me to want to 100% it either. But if you like hard games to 100% this is a very good choice. Full Review »
