  1. The best experience you’ll have in this game is the multiplayer mode, which I played for literally hours on end.
  2. Solid racing action but the interface needs some work.
  3. Gameplay, although it is rooted in traditional racing gameplay, is very much more challenging and can prove to draw even mild racing fans into its action.

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to drive a balsa wood car full of helium, here's your chance. Slight bumps will send you airborne.
  5. Nintendo Power

Tight control and realistic physics. [Dec 2002, p.216]
  6. It's a little schizo, trying to tread the line between arcade racer and sim, but it's much more of an arcade style experience on the whole.
  7. You don’t get a real sense of speed and this makes the handling very problematic.

With a focus on being more accessible and arcadey it's pretty easy to jump into for beginners; however, for rally experts it may proof too basic to be worth any interest.
  9. While any petrol-heads who are starved of a racer would do well to get this – as it’s not a bad game by any means – everybody else would be wise to sit on their hands and wait until something a bit more ‘special’ comes along. "Colin McRae 3" will be here in March.
  10. Floaty physics and a sore lack of variety in track design are the standout issues that prevent this game from even garnering a rental recommendation.

Visually, the game has a rather muddy and faded look -- it just isn't up to snuff. Although car damage can affect driving, none of it shows up in the visuals.
