  • Summary: Nothing bites like a sky filled with invading alien space craft busily destroying civilization. And it gets really personal when the invaders drop hordes of ground troops to kill you and the people you love. Ask Justin the street gang leader hoping to find and rescue his friend alive, Ashley the fashion photographer searching desperately for her boyfriend and Naji, a cop who wants his partner back. They're all playable characters fighting for their lives, to avenge those who have died and in the hope of finding disappeared friends.

Space Raiders, from the people who brought you Space Invaders, features addictive play, immersive 3-D environments, monster designs that keeps the player wondering what's behind the next corner, and great game balance. The story features one player Story Mode and one or two player cooperative Survival Mode.

  1. My only real complaint about the game is that there aren't any bonuses or historical materials giving props to the original game.
  2. The gamplay is simple but well-executed and just as much fun as it was in the eraly '80s. [June 2004, p.121]
  3. The enemies are varied enough and can be deadly, but they are animated poorly and just look bad.
  4. One of the most disappointing and lackluster games on the GameCube today...No matter what type of gamer you are, though, there are many flaws in the game which are inexcusable – the game’s length, lack of challenge (apart from Survival Mode), monotony, and bad graphics and sound.
  5. Anyone looking for a game that plays in the old Space Invaders style can surely find an arcade compilation somewhere. The "just move right and left and shoot the enemies" idea was great back in the 1980's, but it just doesn't cut it by today's standards.
  6. The two-player mode adds no value to Space Raiders because there isn’t enough substance to the gameplay in the first place. There’s no sense of challenge and there is little fun since dodging and shooting at the same spot in a street is so undeveloped for games these days.
  7. Fans of modern shooters will have no use for this trite, monotonous junk, and fans of the original Space Invaders will simply be appalled at how Taito has butchered its classic gameplay into this one-dimensional mess.

I was so excited about this game until I played it. Then I found that it was boring and repetitive.
