A mustachioed maniac has mucked up the entire island, and Mario is accused of committing the crime. Armed with a hi-tech water cannon called FLUDD (Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device), Mario sets out to clean the island, clear his name, and solve the mystery of the villainous vandal. With new enemies, moves, and surprises, Super Mario Sunshine offers plenty of challenges. Expand

A masterpiece of superior game design, infinite gameplay variety, creativity, and life-and it's got a water cannon…and a damn brilliant one at that.
  2. Combine the wonderfully fluid control system, level designs that ooze the 'one more go' appeal and the fact that it's Mario, and you've got one of the best games in a long time and certainly the GameCube's finest hour to date. [Import]
  3. An excellent title, and almost certainly the very best GameCube title to date.
  4. Sunshine isn't the leap forward from Mario 64 that Mario 64 was from the previous Marios. But of all the titles that are available right now, on viable platforms, this is as good as videogaming gets. [Import]
  5. Even three and a half years later, there hasn't been a more complete, entertaining, lovingly wrought platformer made for the GameCube.
  6. Although not quite the revolution in game play or visual aesthetics that "Super Mario 64" was in its heyday, Super Mario Sunshine still stands as one of the premier platform games of this console generation.
  7. To say that the camera in this game is atrocious is like saying being kicked in the teeth kinda hurts-it gives the person an idea about how bad it is, but it doesn't even begin to describe the agony in detail.

I worked through it and always enjoyed the great look and feel. Unfortunately my memory card went corrupt and I had to start over, which I put off until recently. The game is just as good if not better then I remember and I just wish Nintendo had gone back to Isle Delfino in another main title and not just as cameos in sports games. The closest thing to it are some of the planets from Super Mario Galaxy, and there my favorite planets in the game. The game is just is full of charm. Go out and find a copy right now, then buy it and don't ever stop playing. Expand

I know this is one of the most underrated Mario games out there and it's such a shame because SMS is one of the greatest gems Nintendo has ever made and I loved it more than Super Mario 64 for sure! It took some of the great things about SM64 like the hub and level traveling, the star system (even though it's shine sprites this time) and made them even better. Sure FLUDD was kind of weird but I was okay with her, I thought the system controlled well. I am of course not a fan about the lack of the long jump and backwards jump that were in SM64 but luckily they returned in the Galaxy games. I guess one of the biggest reasons I love this game so much is probably the fact that it's one of the first Mario games I've ever played, or maybe I'm just blinded by nostalgia too much. I just really like the whole vacation theme of this game. I suggest that everyone should give this game a try; it's really not as bad as people say. Expand

Its a main series Mario title that actually has a real story! The gameplay usually involves Mario using a water jetpack named FLUDD to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Level designs are fantastic and are all built around one big island. The levels are varied, including beaches, hotels, airstrip, a volcano, a theme park, and many others. Voice acting and music are surprisingly great. The game rewards you for exploration. Its a very satisfying experience. Plenty of shine sprites to collect so plenty to do in the game.

THE BAD: Hmm, surprisingly, I really don't have much bad to say about this game. Sure, i'll admit that it lacks the impact on the gaming industry that Super Mario 64 had, but thats really about it.

This is a MUST OWN! MUST BUY! One of the best games that the platforming genre has to offer.

By far the best 3D mario. Many people rag on the FLUDD mechanic simply because it doesn't follow the average mario formula. i believe thisBy far the best 3D mario. Many people rag on the FLUDD mechanic simply because it doesn't follow the average mario formula. i believe this Mario was the most creative, interesting, and just downright fun 3D mario game. it is the predecessor to Super Mario Galaxy, and the successor to Super Mario 64. Sporting one of the best controllers of all time as a tool to play it with to boot, the Gamecube controller. This game is easy to pick up, easy to learn, and will have you addicted all the way through. this game gets a solid 9 from me. this game is not a ten for the sole reason that the game is fairly short, with only 5 or 6 worlds, you can get to the final shine fairly quickly. but there are tons of side activities and shines to grab to occupy even more of your time

Conclusion: Definitely worth a play. Whether or not you think its the best 3D mario after playing, you will certainly be enjoying yourself all the way through.

Of course Super Mario Sunshine isn't Super Mario 64. Super Mario 64 is easily still one of my favorite video games ever made but Super MarioOf course Super Mario Sunshine isn't Super Mario 64. Super Mario 64 is easily still one of my favorite video games ever made but Super Mario Sunshine shouldn't be condemned when compared to it. The Mario Franchise was trying to be creative and I believe that they succeeded. Super Mario Sunshine is a separate entity of its own right and will continue to entertain players who choose to either re-beat it or try it out for the first time. It's game play is very innovative and I believe this game would have received a 9 or 10 from me and many others if it wasn't a Mario game. The game itself is amazing but way to many people are just disappointed when they compare it to Super Mario 64 or even the classic 2D Mario games. Besides, Yoshi is back in Super Mario Sunshine!
