  1. For the first T rated Disney game, High Voltage ("Hunter: The Reckoning") and TDK have done a magnificent job and this is easily their best effort to date.
  2. It's imaginative, it controls well, and the puzzles are solid and challenging without being repetitive. It's simply that a basic weakness in the engine makes The Haunted Mansion a far more frustrating experience than it really needs to be.
  3. Has great production values, is "spiritually" faithful to the look and feel of the famed Disney attraction, and is a very good action/puzzler to boot.
  4. You'll spend a lot of time checking the mansion's 15 rooms for ghosts, which can get tedious, but many of the game's puzzles are quite clever. [Dec 2003, p.144]
  5. The game expertly blends physical—mostly platforming—challenges with cerebral puzzles and, in the process, keeps players guessing throughout.

While the title can offer up some disappointingly repetitive objectives, there are still some smart puzzles interspersed and control is relatively tight.
  7. Between its overall solid presentation, and its gameplay that keeps you guessing, this is one game that's worth taking a look at.
  8. A fun and straightforward game that takes its inspiration from the Disney ride and thankfully not from the Eddie Murphy movie of the same name.
  9. 70
Sadly, the game falters during certain combat segments. While the control mechanics enable locking in on an attacker, at times, there are so many charging that it’s difficult to target a particular one.

Clearly, this is a game with an identity crisis. Kids can’t play it because of the scary ghosts and more mature gamers will be turned off by the puzzles that would be ridiculously easy if not for the occasionally wonky controls. So who’s left?
  11. 60
Although it has its shortcomings -- especially in its plot and combat -- it's definitely worth a play.
  12. Starts by presenting a strong mood and setting, but the feeling wears off soon. The best ideas for rooms and puzzles seem to be used at the beginning of the game, and everything comes together more suitably in the first half of the game.
  13. The story is way overdone and weighs down the gameplay..., and convoluted specifics of progression are unnecessary given the game's linear structure. [Nov 2003, p.93]
