While the title can offer up some disappointingly repetitive objectives, there are still some smart puzzles interspersed and control is relatively tight.
  2. Between its overall solid presentation, and its gameplay that keeps you guessing, this is one game that's worth taking a look at.
  3. The game expertly blends physical—mostly platforming—challenges with cerebral puzzles and, in the process, keeps players guessing throughout.
  4. Nintendo Power
You'll spend a lot of time checking the mansion's 15 rooms for ghosts, which can get tedious, but many of the game's puzzles are quite clever. [Dec 2003, p.144]
  5. Cheat Code Central
A fun and straightforward game that takes its inspiration from the Disney ride and thankfully not from the Eddie Murphy movie of the same name.

Clearly, this is a game with an identity crisis. Kids can’t play it because of the scary ghosts and more mature gamers will be turned off by the puzzles that would be ridiculously easy if not for the occasionally wonky controls. So who’s left?
  7. Starts by presenting a strong mood and setting, but the feeling wears off soon. The best ideas for rooms and puzzles seem to be used at the beginning of the game, and everything comes together more suitably in the first half of the game.

Sadly, the game falters during certain combat segments. While the control mechanics enable locking in on an attacker, at times, there are so many charging that it’s difficult to target a particular one.
  9. 60
Although it has its shortcomings -- especially in its plot and combat -- it's definitely worth a play.
  10. Play Magazine
The story is way overdone and weighs down the gameplay..., and convoluted specifics of progression are unnecessary given the game's linear structure. [Nov 2003, p.93]

I remember playing this game in my child hood. IT has a very spooky atmosphere, great enemy design and the puzzles are very fun. AlthoughI remember playing this game in my child hood. IT has a very spooky atmosphere, great enemy design and the puzzles are very fun. Although during combat the game does get a bit boring, but that isn't what this game is about. The game main strength is in its atmosphere, enemy design, and puzzles. A very great hidden gem on the nintendo gamecube and is recommended to everyone who owns the system Full Review »
