  1. This is one awesome GameCube title. Splinter Cell is a no-brainer next to Metroid Prime and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker to add to your ‘Cube library.
  2. Even though you get more varied action from a "Metal Gear Solid," what's here is so well designed, I remained jaw-dropped impressed from start to finish. [June 2003, p.126]
  3. It stands as one of the essential games to own on the platform, providing it's your one and only games system.
  4. While the game is heavily scripted you are given a surprising amount of latitude in how you accomplish your missions. The story is engrossing, the script professionally crafted, and the game features missions that rely more on stealth and covert tactics than combat and aggression.
  5. There's no denying Splinter Cell's brilliant level designs, countless gameplay innovations, and seamlessly integrated storytelling. [May 2003, p.84]
  6. Hiding in the shadows never has been a more thrilling experience! A welcome addition to the GC library and a classic in it's own right.

Cooler still, you can fire a weapon called a sticky bomb that plants itself on a wall and detonates when you hit your GBA's A button. [June 2003, p.42]

This version of Splinter Cell disappointingly doesn’t measure up to the superior versions on the Xbox, PS2, and PC, although it’s still a decent mission for the GameCube.
  9. The single most immersive action gaming experience I have ever had. Every element – graphics, gameplay, sound, story – works together to form a very cohesive unit and blow your little gaming mind.
  10. Sets the standard that all future stealth action games on the GameCube will be measured against.
  11. One of the most popular, most successful, and best looking games for Microsoft's Xbox is now on the GameCube, and in some respects it's better than the original.

A nearly flawless conversion that adds more than it takes away... The transposition to Nintendo's controller is welcome, because the game now feels much more fluid and responsive.
  13. With its incredible gameplay, excellent atmosphere and great graphics, Splinter Cell is a great game that shouldn’t be missed by any self respecting GameCube owner.

Playing Splinter Cell in the dark with a brightly lit GBA SP glowing in sync with the television is a brand-new way of enjoying this already highly enjoyable game, and we fully recommend that GBA owners check it out. Our hats go off to Ubi Soft for taking the extra time to include it.
  15. The connectivity additions elevate Splinter Cell to a whole new level of cool. Tilt the GBA SP screen up next to your TV - it's like being equipped with real surveillance gear. [June 2003, p.134]
  16. The gaming community is rarely treated to a gaming spectacle that excels so elegantly as Splinter Cell.
  17. A challenging, gorgeous, serious and compelling game.
  18. Just a little underdeveloped. A little more freedom of play and movement would have done justice to the original ideas, then the hype would have been justified.

This is the first game in the classic Splinter Cell series. This is a hardcore stealth game. The voice acting is superb and the story is marvelous. This is a must play and own for stealth fans. Full Review »
