92Acclaim Cheltenham has successfully combined graphics, sound and game play into a racer that has heart-pounding speed, dizzying visuals, great control and excellent multiplayer functions.
-
90Small nuances, like the changing weather conditions...and the incredible rush of speed during the starightaways, along with a smoother look and a greater sense of control, realy helps XG3 for the GameCube put a nicer spin on the genre, and edges out the PS2 version by a margin.
-
89Offers some excellent gameplay and a fun multiplayer racing experience.
-
87You can't help but be quietly impressed by its speed, its stunning scenery, and its incredibly well-designed tracks.
-
86Those who waited for the GameCube version of Extreme-G 3 have been rewarded with a superior version of the game....A smart and solid racing game that provides an amazing feeling of true speed.
-
The GameCube version of XG3 is, to be frank, bloody marvellous.
-
85One of my favorite racing games of all time. It's got newly polished, tight vehicle control, wonderfully designed tracks that seem to go in every direction, and an unblemished sense of speed that surpasses everything else out there.
-
85Offers a level of speed and intensity thats difficult to capture in a game. Its a complex balance to reach, but Acclaim definitely came close to achieving it.
-
84Next to "Crazy Taxi," this is the best racing/driving game on the console.
-
Few arcade type racing titles are created with the entertaining gameplay and great presentation this game possesses...Unfortunately it lacks length.
-
84The game is all about physics and speed. XG3 is jam packed with both.
-
The GC-only four-player mode is impressively fast. [Feb 2002, p.87]
-
83Although the single player game has a few too many potential dead ends, the accessible gameplay and multiplayer support for up to four people means it's a surefire crowd pleaser.
-
80The only thing to beware of with XG3 on GameCube is the somewhat limited helping of race tracks and a specific style of racing that doesnt exactly jive with all types of people.
-
80Most WipeOut race fans will play Extreme G3, say, "wow, cool," and just drool over how potentially cool "WipeOut Fusion" is gonna be.
-
The smooth controls, incredibly fast races and fun combat are still here, and the Cube's processor seems more than able to handle the blindingly fast races even in four player split screen.
-
80This is fast. Seriously fast. Brain-crushingly, mind-numbingly fast. Probably faster than anything we've ever played before. It's not fast like "Wipeout" is fast - sure, "Wipeout" is fast, but not this fast.
-
A racing experience thatd blow Kojaks hair back. [Feb 2002, p.58]
-
75You'll be grinding your teeth every few minutes as you realize the difficulty that Acclaim has sunk into this thing. It's one of those racers where you need to be pretty much perfect each time, as well as constantly upgrading your vehicle.
-
Extreme G3 excels in its delivery, but the lack of excitement and any sort of replay system dampen the fun.
-
There are only 12 cycles on a huge track, leaving you by yourself for much of the race. [Jan 2002, p.128]

AlexB.10I love this game, and I want more!!!!! I beat it fast and want xgr four to come out now, if it is out, I'm buying it now.
-
JamesR.104 player mode rules, and in GC looks fine, more than in PS2 where there isn't even 4 player version. Buy it for GC if you like FZeroGX.
