It all comes down to how much you enjoy these types of apps, and whether you dream of owning an airport. If either sound appealing, Airport City HD will definitely keep you entertained. For how long will probably depend on how much money you feel the game is worth.

Airport City HD is a freemium management game that offers a decent amount of initial fun for your in-app purchases, but a few bottlenecks and imbalances hold up the traffic somewhat.

Players determine what buildings will be placed, what planes will be purchased, what flights will be flown, fuel purchasing, and so on. Overall, though, while it pretends to be a Sim City-style business builder, the game falls far short of its promise. Much of the game is downtime, so it's less a play-for-a-while game and more of a "check in every so often, make some settings changes, and put it aside for another two hours." Of course, players can shorten the wait, but it involves buying in-app cash through, no surprise here, IAP [in-app purchases]. The IAP system here is nearly the same as in Game Insight's other titles, and the game is weighted toward encouraging players to acquire special currency through IAP. It's not strictly necessary to buy currency to complete the game, but attempting to make progress without purchasable game cash is slow and difficult. Really, though, there are so many similarities between this title and Game Insight's Big Business that they can almost be considered the same game with some minor changes. That wouldn't be so bad if Big Business had been an outstanding game, but it wasn't; as it is, both are mediocre, suffering from uninspired play, mundane and repetitive objectives, and constant pressure toward IAP of game currency. If this game is being given to a younger player, ensure that IAP is disabled in the system options, as purchasing game cash is easy to do, even by accident. Really, if you're looking for something that doesn't need constant attention and the theme appeals, go ahead. Otherwise, keep looking. Expand
