Apocalypse Max is not the action shooter I had hoped for, and only the presentation really shines. Where it matters most the game is a bit shallow, and disappointing.

Violent and entertaining in equal measure, Apocalypse Max is a fitting homage to Metal Slug, and a great way to waste a few hours.

The control issues mentioned above, while frustrating, don't detract greatly from the rest of the game. Apocalypse Max is still a great hybrid of platforming and shoot-em-up elements.

Apocalypse Max breathes new life into the zombie killing genre, and does it with a sick amount of flair and gusto.

For fans of the side-scrolling shoot-em-up, Apocalypse Max delivers quite a lot in a fairly compact package. Requiring a fair amount of concentration, but never overly harsh, it wants you to be a survivor and will equip you with the appropriate weapon to do so.

Apocalypse Max doesn't break new ground in the 2D platform/shooting genre, but its high-level of polish puts it right up there with the best iOS has to offer. You can't call yourself a zombie fan without downloading this entertaining game.

    This game is beyond AWESOME!

The best looking platform shooter in iOS. Feels more powerful with the EPIC knife combo attack combined with
blood seeking weapons with very responsive controls. Love the way the game takes to the toughest enemies through beautiful animations and level.

If you are going to make a platform on iOS or else where this has set a new bar of expectations. Absolute perfection in all aspects of the game. Doesn't rely even a little on current iOS game design tactics like grinding etc. SNES platforming for the modern days. Full Review »
