None of these things are revolutionary; Ballistic SE doesn't rewrite the twin stick shooter or bring us a brand new perspective on the genre. Instead, it's an incredibly solid, well-balanced game that makes up in entertainment for what it skips in flash.

Ballistic SE definitely feels familiar, but it's like seeing an old friend. At the end of the day, this is a smartly designed and thrilling shooter, one we intend to play after finishing this review.
  3. Apr 27, 2012
Ballistic SE will make fans of the genre very happy. It looks and sounds great, controls well and will keep the player coming back to best their high scores.

Schneider's presentational style may be a little sterile for some tastes, but while his games may not have the same force of personality as Minter's, he demonstrates an equally astute mind for augmenting existing genres.
  5. Apr 26, 2012
While it has some impressive moments, Ballistic SE falls well short of reshaping the genre template it fits so snugly into.
  6. May 2, 2012
Ballistic SE manages to nail the slick presentation and smart controls that make a shooter really shine, but its middle-of-the-road gameplay holds the game back.
