Caylus is the transposition of a famous Board Game, but the result, like Carcassonne, is very good. It's not a "standard" videogame so, the purchase, could interest just the fans.

What it all comes down to is this question: Is Caylus a good candidate for porting to the iPhone? Given the length of games, given the poor multiplayer support, given that the elegance of the boardgame is lost entirely, I suspect the answer might be "no". Which is a real shame after Big Daddy Creations so successfully ported Neuroshima Hex to the iPhone.

Requiring balanced gameplay, a little foresight, and a dose of luck, Caylus provides strategy fans with another solid title.

While it's unlikely to ensnare new players due to its plodding pace and labyrinthine rules, Caylus is a faithful adaptation of an award-winning boardgame that fans will adore.

While I may hate using the word so soon, Caylus really is a classic, and it's wonderful to see it brought to life digitally to expose it to a whole new audience.

For pure entertainment dollar by dollar, I'll take Caylus over most board games in the App Store. It's an obscenely good game, which makes its flaws all the more frustrating.

Anyone with an interest in leisurely-paced board games who isn't afraid of very in-depth instructions will most likely enjoy it, but those used to simple pick-up-and-play titles might feel like they've bitten off more than they can chew.
