Chaos Rings Ω might be more of the same, but in this case that's a very good thing.

While not as stunningly original as the first title, Chaos Rings Omega is still a great RPG that manages to polish the formula even more thanks to an engaging storyline and minor gameplay improvements.

Personally, I think it's worth the price for anyone looking for a good RPG to have on-the-go – assuming they aren't already loaded down with iOS role-playing games, that is.

If you are a fan of Japanese role playing games than you absolutely must get Chaos Rings Omega. It is without question the best game in the genre on the iPhone. However, if aren't a huge fan, and have already played the first Chaos Rings, than I would probably pass, because this game is so similar (almost identical) to the first one.

Solely for diehard fans of Chaos Rings and with the first game currently on sale, you'll be better of starting there if you're just a curious passerby. It's not bad by any means, but it doesn't even pretend to offer anything different or new.

When I played Chaos Rings on the iPhone, the visuals seemed razor sharp. On the iPad, it looks like the game's environments were simply enlarged from lower resolutions, hence the fuzziness.

With a 10-12 hour story mode, an optional new-game+, and a fairly high difficulty curve to tie it all together, CRO is a robust - if not all that replayable - RPG.

Less a prequel and more a rerun, but this remains one of the most fully-featured and best presented Japanese role-players on the App Store.

A decent enough game for those who enjoyed the first and want a harmless time waster. Compared to the original, however, Chaos Rings Omega is significantly lacking. It copies mechanics, re-uses assets, and mimics the entire plot of the first game, but it lacks the originality and surprisingly original characters that allowed the first to be a charmer.

Though it isn't an entirely original experience (for, as has been said, it's been copied a lot from the original Chaos rings), it is an immensely fun title that you won't want to miss. It's every bit as fun as the original Chaos Rings and is worth every dollar Full Review »
