If you're looking for the next gem for smartphones and iPad, it may very well be Contre Jour. This puzzle-game with a poetry twist draws inspirations from Limbo for its visuals, World of Goo for its drops, Portal for its... portals, Cut the Rope for its mechanics combining dexterity and brains. A very nice blend of many different elements that fit together very well.

    It's a beautiful, challenging experience.

Contre Jour oozes with a dark, silky charm that grabs your attention right after you first launch the game. Before you know it, you'll be 20+ levels deep without any recollection of how much time has passed.
  4. Sep 14, 2011
Contre Jour doesn't break any new ground, but still its unique graphic style, gorgeous music and solid gameplay make it a must-buy for puzzle lovers.

This game is easily one of the best games on the app store to date, and definitely well worth the asking price.

Contre Jour is a great puzzle game, that definitely deserves gamers attention.

A clever puzzle game with solid mechanics that cements Chillingo's position as one of the iOS heavyweights.

With 60 levels offering hours of patient probing, it's another impossibly good-value offering.

Contre Jour's amazing presentation communicates to players an immediate and palpable sense of specialness – something meaningful. But its gameplay reveals something considerably more standard. Contre Jour is still a great game – a must-own for iOS puzzle fans.

A game that feels so inviting that you'd be a fool to turn away. Come to the light.
  11. Aug 29, 2011
It's slowly getting harder and harder to love new cutesy physics based puzzlers, but Contre Jour breaks through with its elegant visuals and interesting approach to world manipulation.
  12. Aug 25, 2011
Add one part Limbo, one part World of Goo and a dash of Cut The Rope - get Contre Jour.

Contre Jour offers a unique gameworld alongside a particularly attractive atmosphere. Throw in an endearing character and proven play mechanics and you've got a serious competitor to Cut the Rope.
  14. Aug 29, 2011
Taking its cue from as many popular iPhone casual games as it can, Contre Jour is polished and perfectly fine to play. It's just not very original or exciting.
  15. Sep 22, 2011
Contre Jour manages to successfully ape some of the App Store's most popular mechanics, but it doesn't really know what it wants to do with them.
