Though Death Golf shows early promise, the lack of variety, repetitive mechanics and frustrating movement controls hold it back from reaching its aspirations.
Despite its shaky start and less-than-precise controls, Death Golf manages to turn itself into an entertaining game. Simple on most fronts and without many frills to contribute to the wow-factor, it's still an interesting experience that blends something ordinary (golf) with something fascinating (jumping over alligators) to produce a game that's several steps outside the norm.
Death Golf is an action-packed re-imagining of the game many know and some (unexplained by science) love, but aside from the unique concept, the execution feels weak and hard to enjoy.
Its parts might not quite work together, but Death Golf is still a mostly entertaining little arcade game.
Death Golf is great idea for a game that misses the green by a wide, country mile.
