Suffice it to say though, for puzzle fans Device 6 is hands-down the game that best takes advantage of the iPhone as a gaming platform.

Device 6 is very interesting combination of an odd mystery novella, modernized text adventure and clever puzzles. And yes, it's a game. [Dec 2013]

The way Simogo weaves the player and Anna into the same mystery is fascinating. It might not be for everyone, but the richly complex puzzles and intriguing neo-noir mystery are sure to make Device 6 a cult hit. [Issue 0, January 2014]

Device 6 is a very interesting, creative storytelling experiment that combines old school text adventures with the interactive capabilities of a touchscreen.

Device 6 is a short game, polished off in a couple of hours, but its effects will linger. Its narrative is sharp and engrossing and its style, while drawing on influences as disparate as Lost and Kafka, is quite unlike anything else.

Simogo’s keen eye for design and multimedia elevate what otherwise could have been a breezy mystery novella into one of the best puzzle games on the App Store.

The text adventure is reborn as one of the smartest and most engrossing interactive stories of the year, and with one of the best touchscreen interfaces ever seen.

Again, Device 6’s unorthodox presentation may be off-putting at first, but stick with it, especially if you’re a fan of Year Walk. It’s a perfect accompaniment to the current Halloween atmosphere, though like any good mystery, it keeps well at any time of the year.

Much like their fabulous previous release Year Walk, DEVICE 6 sees you tossed into the midst of a mystery and tasked with finding answers through exploration and puzzle-solving.

By this point in time, I still have trouble trying to decide whether or not Device 6 was a text-based game or a story with video game elements added in, but neither of those choices adequately describe it. In hindsight, I realize now that Device 6 can be easily categorized with one word: art.

Simogo’s greatest triumph, perhaps, is to intensify the potency of the written word. In using its text both as narrative and as geography – and through its impressively restrained use of illustration and sound – it generates an almost unrivalled sense of place.

With a compelling story that keeps you guessing, and a pin-point utilisation of the platform, Device 6 is an accomplishment in games design, mobile or otherwise.

In turning a text adventure into a world map, Simogo has resurrected a long-dead genre with style and confidence. Great presentation and brilliant puzzles complete a stellar package.

Simogo's come up with another unmissable game - an ingenious slice of puzzling adventure that's as imaginative as it is stylish. Whether you played Year Walk or not, you can't let this one pass you by.

I wasn’t expecting to discover that one of my new favorite point-and-click adventure games would feature so little pointing and clicking, but that’s what Device 6 has done. I felt more than a little silly rotating my iPad around to read Anna along a new path, but her story was worth it in the end.

Yes, it's a novel (pun intended) experience. However, it's simply not that good. The fact that it's been scoring so highly with critics and reviewers is not so much indicative of how good the game itself is, but of how starved the reviewers are for a new experience, and how mind-blown they are when they run into it so much so, that they forget that games are rated on other things besides novelty. Basically, 9/10 for novelty, 1/10 for re-playability, about 6 out of 10 for sound, and maybe 7 out of 10 for graphics. Gameplay itself would score no more than 5 because despite the novelty of the gameplay, it's simply annoying to have to keep swinging your device around as the game forces you to do. Again, not a bad game, especially not for 3 or 4 bucks, but hardly worth a 92% that's just crazy. This is not the second coming, it's just a nice, quirky, play-ONCE (or twice to check out the one real 'fork') game. Enjoy it, just don't expect a 9/10 experience. Full Review »

Device 6 is not actually a game, is more like an interactive book experience. And it is fantastic.

Honestly, only few times I've seen something as original as this work. The story is great, really well written, the sounds and visuals are really clever and helps creating a fantastic eerie atmosphere. It's not as scary as year walk, but the atmosphere is really great.

Simogo is the best dev for iOS, and I'm really glad that there's somone trying to do things that are truly original in the plataform.

Really an amazing game, better than Year Walk, and one of the best games of 2013, considering all platforms.

The story is very intuitive and the navigation through the text only adds to it. The uneasy atmosphere had me a bit scared to carry on at some points, using an atmosphere similar to that of Year Walk.

Probably one of the best games of the year. Ignore all the bad reviews here, trust me.

P.S. That 'Anna' song is REALLY catchy.
