  • Summary: Dungeonism is a turn-and-tile-based dungeon crawler. It’s not quite a roguelike, but it is rogue-ish.

There's no doubt that Dungeonism won't be to everyone's tastes. With its pretty but primitive graphics and sound, not to mention its roguelike flavors which give death an air of inevitability, you'll need an appetite for exploration and experimentation to get the most out of this experience. If that sounds like your cup of tea though, Dungeonism might just end up being one of your favorite games of 2013.

So for everyone who’s always wanted a hardcore gaming experience on a mobile device, while still maintaining that simplicity of design and addictive short bursts of gameplay, then Dungeonism is most definitely the dungeon crawler for you. And if anything, it can always teach you a thing or two about making it out alive.

Sure, Dungeonism has a few small issues like the above-mentioned difficulty curve and a tutorial system that could be organized better, but overall it's an excellent title and well worth checking out.

Dungeonism is a roguelike for the on-the-go gamer.
  5. It’s not the easiest game to wrap your brain around. The dungeon crawling is kind of turn-based yet also not, and levels are kind of rogue-like (meaning randomized), but not completely. Instructions are rare.

It can become repetitive and roguelike fans may find it too easy going, but Dungeonism is a refreshingly accessible take on a familiar genre.
