Some games make up in execution for what they lack in high concept, and Echo Prime falls into that category pretty comfortably.

On the smaller iPhone screen the tap-heavy controls can often lead to confusion though, with mis-taps moving when you mean to attack and generally getting you into bad situations during combat. Echo Prime is definitely a game that benefits from the larger iPad screen.

Though the basic combat can get a little wearisome in large doses, Echo Prime's cocktail of sci-fi tropes, mystical powers, and RPG leveling offers a decent throatful of neon-soaked gratification.

A well put together and entertaining brawler, Echo Prime is a slow burn, but it's worth the effor.

Echo Prime is an interesting dungeon crawler-like action game with a few collectible card game elements thrown into the mix.

Echo Prime offers plenty of energetic stages full of foes to blast and slice up, but its repetitive nature weighs down some of the more interesting elements.

There are lots of ways this could be a game that I'd want to recommend to others, but right now, the only thing I can truly say about my feelings on this game is that it's not worth it.

Echo Prime has a nice idea at its core, but it is let down almost every step of the way by run-of-the-mill, uninspired execution.
