Fighting Fantasy: House of Hell plays exactly as it should and that's a boon for FF fans, but it's a weaker follow up to the excellent Blood of the Zombies.
House of Hell might not have been amongst the very best of the original Fighting Fantasy series, but Tin Man have made the most of the opportunities afforded by the digital transition to improve on the paper version, and make it as fun as possible.
Not Jackson or Tin Man's best, but still brilliantly nostalgic fun. [May 2013, p.88]
It’s a fun ride, but one that isn’t quite as gripping as it should be. Tin Man Games has done a fine job of converting the book to the iOS format, but it’s just not the greatest of Fighting Fantasy titles. Still, nostalgic fans will enjoy it sufficiently for the asking price. Others can feel their interest piqued ready for further installments.
The excellent game book engine underneath can't quite iron out House of Hell's problems. It's still a good game, but it pales somewhat in comparison to its predecessor.
