    * A Unique Action Puzzle Game *
    Halcyon is named for the mythological bird of ancient Greece, said to charm the winds and seas into a calm during the Winter
    Solstice.
    Gameplay is one part spacial action puzzler and one part interactive stringed instrument combined in an experience designed specifically for the iPad.
    Colored currents travel inexorably toward each other. Strum the strings to match the currents, creating both phonic and visual harmony.

    Take on the role of the Halcyon, conducting nature, untangling currents, and bringing calm to the wind, sea, land, and stars.

    * A Generative Musical Instrument *
    Halcyon features a complete generative soundtrack that becomes an instrument when you play the game. Since its designed to accompany you while you play, you'll create tranquil sonic landscapes as you travel along.

    * Tons of Gameplay *
    : 36 Levels through Four Environments
    : Two Endless Modes that dynamically adjust difficulty based on how you are doing
    : A Twelve Song Generative Soundtrack
    : OpenFeint + Game Center

    It lacks the immediate pull of a great puzzle game, but if you enjoy them, Halcyon is not to be missed. It's nice to see a simple, clean title appear as a good palette cleanser to some of the more complex games out these days.

    Halcyon is one of those games that's something of a Zen experience to play, but is also downright maddening, both due to the difficulty in the latter levels as well as the "Ok, just one more time!" spell it casts upon you.

    Halcyon might well ask that you untangle the currents of the wind, land, sea and air, but it's as vicious and unpredictable as a Friday evening jog across Victoria Station concourse.

    Halcyon is not truly a must have game despite its intriguing air. Its gameplay does not yield more surprise after repeated play-throughs and so may grow tired quickly, even with the Game Center integration that is new in iOS 4.2. But what is here is fresh, engaging and fiercely challenging; if you're looking for something that's unlike many iPad games out there right now then you should get this one.

    I really wanted to like Halcyon, especially considering its pedigree, but it just doesn't feel like a polished experience. The difficulty and visuals need to be tweaked before it gets any more playtime.
