It's a sharp, fast-paced romp and while its somewhat hampered by its diminutive length, there's enough of Liberation Maiden to warrant attention. Bombs away.

Liberation Maiden may be a little expensive for its content, then, but this is frankly an outstanding port. Those mobile gamers who look upon the release schedule for traditional handheld consoles with envious eyes will be very pleased to see this title make such a grand appearance on the App Store, and that the controls can be ported so effortlessly to touchscreens bodes very well for the future of the platform.

Liberation Maiden is beautiful, with five open levels to experience and a storyline with lovely cut-scenes to go along with it, but players will encounter some issues along the way.

For what it’s worth, Liberation Maiden is the far better value and experience than its 3DS counterpart. Play this version of the uncommon shooter if you haven’t already, but don’t expect it to last you long.

The slim amount of content is more tolerable for an iOS game though, giving leaderboard chasers an action-packed shooter that is fairly unique among smartphone and tablet games.

Liberation Maiden received praise on the 3DS, but in losing the element of physical control it seems that a crucial component of this brisk-paced shooter has been lost.

The iOS port of Liberation Maiden is a little prettier than the 3DS original, but the same faults remain firmly in place - joined by some irritating touchscreen controls.
