All problems aside, though, Manos was a pretty addicting experience. It felt just like a game out of my childhood, and continued to call me back for another playthrough after running out of lives.

Manos: The Hands of Fate is a terrible movie, but it wound up being a solid video game.

A fun retro platforming adventure that faithfully represents '80s gaming with a crisp modern polish.

If you know about and have had the pleasure of enjoying the MST3K version of 'Manos: The Hands of Fate' then by all means, make this a purchase - it's frustrating, confusing and dated in its appeal... the perfect companion to a pop-culture classic.

Manos: The Hands of Fate has the charming retro feel and classic source material to make it lovable, but it can't overcome its own bugs and faults to be more than schlock. "The master would not approve."

Manos - The Hands of Fate caters to fans of the film, but outsiders will not likely enjoy this challenging side-scroller.

MST3K version is pretty entertaining. The game, however, is not.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Ahhh!" is this game in a nutshell. I wrote a review once and my phone glitched up and deleted my text, I realized it was a sign to redo the review and say everything wrong with it. So here we go.

    Good Parts:
Controls are very nice. I only killed myself 3 times because of bad controls for the 3 hours I played. The sound track is nice but level 2 makes it annoying. Also the cover art is great.

    Bad Parts:
The color pallet was a little off the NES style, and it was very clear where the jumping texture was a copy of SMB but maybe that was the goal. The enemies are so bad so here is a list of the worst monsters from the first 5 levels

    Bosses:
Level 1- Torgo. Most straight forward boss fight ever, if you die here you should just give up on games.
Level 2- Statue thing. This boss is really hard and the worst part is it is so easy to get a 1up right before you fight the boss so you never lose lives and it makes the game feel pointless. I played the PC version just to make sure the boss was beatable.
Level 3- Ostrich V1. Hard but once you get it down it's easy. The ostrich has a really basic attack loop and once you get it down you're done with it.
Level 4- Rabid Dog. If someone would have told me that the bosses got worse after level 3 I would have believed it, but if I was told how bad this boss is I wouldn't believe it. This boss is the most monotonous boss I have ever fought. It reminded me of that once boss from the NES Contra in which all you had to do is jump over the guy and shoot again, but this time the boss jumps and it decides that the best place to jump is thru a platform that is your only shelter. The worst part of that is you can't jump thru the platform so rabid dog will kill you over and over. Luckily it's an weak boss so you don't spend too much time on it.
Level 5- Ostrich v2. This is why I quit. The bird is the exact same except now airplanes are charging at you and have decent health and the worst part is you are in an airplane Silver Surfer style (one hit death).

    Monsters:
Drunk Lovers in a Car- Level 1 and 4. This enemy is two lovers are kissing then the male takes a swig and throws the bottle out the window and then it loops the thing, you can shoot the bottle down but the game likes to throw other enemies at you while you are playing for example the jumping swamp man.
jumping swamp man- Level 4. This guy jumps around and has 2 health you are lucky if you hit him once.
The others are really basic and not worth note

Level 4 is the worst level in the game it is like those levels in SMB3 where the world keeps on moving and you have to run with the world. It also has rabid dog.
Level 5 wins second worse because it is so ridiculously hard and by the time you play the level you just want to quit. This is also where I got my first death screen which made me happy to be done with it, but then you can continue, and then you can continue, and then you can continue, and then you can continue, and etc.

I expected the game to be hard then Level 1 made me think it was an easy game, then level 2 made me think it was still easy just hard bosses, level 3 made me think it was easy, level 4 made me think it was just stupid, and then level 5 confirmed that to no end. You would be better off playing Contra, Ghost and Goblins, or Lifeforce than playing this load of crap.
