Story Mode is fun and light-hearted, and rekindles those feelings of excitement and adventure you had with friends when you were a kid. It may wear its influences on its sleeve, but that's not such a bad thing when it's handled so well.
Aimed towards a younger audience but still has enough depth to appeal to mature gamers. [Dec 2015, p.62]

It’s nothing particularly new, as Telltale games go, but I think that playing with a more family-friendly property has been good for the studio. Those trademark life or death choices were getting a little contrived, so it’s nice to just hang around with a likeable group of characters and go off on a fun, mostly light-hearted adventure. With the occasional eldritch abomination thrown in.
Fans of Minecraft might enjoy it on the surface for its in-your-face references, which is fine, because not much exists beneath the surface. If you're thinking about purchasing Telltale's newest title, do so with these considerations in mind. Similarly, if you buy it, approach it knowing what to expect and be prepared for light, childish adventure.
But overall, the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode felt like a disaster to me, which is why I’m hoping that it’s because I don’t know anything about the game it’s based on.
Minecraft: Story Mode is a game made with love for the original series. The fans and the children are satisfied with the game. However, its a game too easy and short for hardcore gamers.
So far, Minecraft: Story Mode is like a Saturday morning cartoon. Sure, there is conflict, but it doesn't feel dire. Sure, there are funny bits, but the comedy isn't sharp or intelligent. Sure, there is a story, but it doesn't feel like it matters yet.

This is shortest and worst Minecraft Story Mode Episode, because in this Episode there aren't action moments. Graphics is **** storyline is interesting and cause play second episode, gameplay in Episode 1 short, but good, in Second Episode longer and better. Minecraft Story Mode is normal game, but first Episode is very short.

This game made me upset due to playing it bc its like playing there previous 2012 game "The Walking Dead" the gameplay is the same you have choices and its like playing the old game but its a Minecraft feel to it. To be honest when I heard about it I thought it was gonna be like playing Minecraft but you have to do stuff to get to new place/levels but your still playing Minecraft i honestly thought is was gonna be a add on to the actual game but it wasn't which made me upset. I love Minecraft honestly but this is gonna make Minecraft look like a bad game which i didn't want happening I'm sorry Telltale games but you just made an older games gameplay and merged it with Minecraft.
