It all comes down to finding the game mode that's right for you and then immersing yourself in what is one of the App Store's weirdest but still enjoyable Apps.

Quite fun at times, but its controls can make the game more frustrating than it ought to be. Still, if you love retro-inspired games, and especially the Llamatron and Robotron games, or just want something a little different from the typical arena shooter, Minotron: 2112 is a solid purchase – and at worst, it's interesting reading material.

If there's a downside to the game, it's that it really isn't built with everyone in mind. It's super strange, and if you're not into it the weird effects and sounds will really just make you hate it even more.

  1. This is a rather excellent traditional shooter in the mold of Robotron but with all the craziness of a llamasoft game. Classic arcade goodness, recommended for retro arcade gaming fans. Expand
  2. Minotron: 2112 has a ton of personality and runs brilliantly e on iPad. On iPhone/Touch it's not as compelling (at least on hard difficulty) but is nonetheless a stylish and and imaginative taken on Robotron that ought not to be missed by fans of both Jeff Minter and 80's arcade games. iOS can use a guy like Jeff Minter and sidekick Giles Goat. Keep up the good work, Jeff. Expand
