You may keep looking at it as a mere Call of Duty rip-off, but truth is Modern Combat 5: Blackout is the absolute best FPS you can play on a mobile device right now.

The game has wonderful graphics and an intuitive gameplay. In the app there are many missions and many game modes. There are no in-app purchases and the game requires a persistent internet connection. The controls are very simple and the game offers many hours of gameplay.

Blackout is as linear as first-person shooters get, and the control method is poor to say the least, but as a casual title it provides surprisingly epic shooting action.

Modern Combat 5 delivers a shocking blow right after you launch the campaign as it turns out to be a hack job. Instead of traditional levels peppered with checkpoints and scripted cinematics as in previous MC games, you’re treated to a poor man’s version of Dead Trigger.

With constant crashes, the game is frustrating at times, which really makes things just bad. For progression in this game, its one of the hardest things to do without spending too much. The energy system forces you to stop playing every 10 minutes, then has you wait for 30 more to reach full recharge. To add on, the requirements for chapters to be unlocked are very difficult to fulfill. To me, the dev's Modern Combat 5 has done everything right, but just ruined the game for the sake of you emptying your wallet. Expand

Let me first say - shame on the reviewers for letting this game slide because it's an IOS first person shooter. If this was a console game, it would have been 3'd, which is what I gave the score.

I'm not much of a multiplayer guy but I usually enjoy the cheap but fun missions in the modern combat franzhize. Mondern Combat 3 and 4 having the best campaign. Mediocore but fun. I'd always undo auto aim and use the tilt feature on the iPad instead.

Now we get to MC5 - this "game" gd joke. The story is stupid, that's to be expected, but the game play is one huge step backwards! There is really no coherent single player campaign, just a bunch of really short mini levels that feel like an arcade game. Half the playtime is taken up by annoying in game cut scenes. The AI is absolutely horrible, worst in the series! It was an enemy AI you would expect in a free online game. The second worst part about this game, besides the single player, is the fact that the dev's totally took out the tilt option in the game, which makes aiming more difficult since the button lay out forces you to misfire often. The graphics are average.

    DONT BUY THIS GAME!
