If you love Monopoly then the iPad is the only way to play it – even if you have the real game sitting in the closet.

Monopoly for iPad is classic EA. The focus is on graphics as much as it is on gameplay, making it great fun to play.

But hey, it's Monopoly. It's a classic, and the iPad version still retains that vibe.

If you must play a video game version of Monopoly then this is definitely the best way to do it and far from the lazy cash-in that it could have been.

A great-looking game, but since a standard Monopoly board is so large and dense with information, it's often difficult to see certain elements on the board.

It becomes apparent quickly that the AI runs on a very specific value system for properties, especially on the most difficult settings. WithIt becomes apparent quickly that the AI runs on a very specific value system for properties, especially on the most difficult settings. With this in mind, it's easy to predict what deals would appease the computer players with minimal cost. The AI never challenges you. They don't take other people's standings in the game nor will notice if you desperately want a certain property. To the AI, all the properties are worth their only a fraction more than their starting price and do not increase the price of a property depending on how many properties an opponent has on the set. I swear, I was able to trade Baltic Avenue, Vermont Avenue, and both utilities to acquire Broadway on the hardest difficulty setting! My AI opponent had no properties on the sets I traded with him and I was able to acquire both purple properties! The AI needs some common sense pronto!
Space also can be an issue with this game. Why does a game of monopoly need to take a whole GB? I'd suggest doing away with the other 3D sets because they don't add much to the game. Removing the unnecessary sparkle effects would be nice as well.
On the positive side, tabletop multiplayer works well and is fairly easy to use. An option to play in a 2D top-down perspective would be nice though. Online multiplayer would be great as well if you can not fix the AI.
Monopoly is one of my all time favorite board games. But $9.99 is too much for an incomplete game. Hold out for a sale if you are interested in playing the tabletop mode.
