Papa Pear Saga is a fun, solid puzzle game, with plenty of levels and power-ups to unlock, even if you have to pay for them.

Gameplay-wise, it’s solid – but the frustrating approach to difficulty and the clear focus on getting your money through in-app purchases doesn’t make for a particularly compelling game.

If you're a Peggle fan who's completely exhausted the game, by all means, give it a go, you've got nothing to lose, but otherwise, there's really no reason you shouldn't be playing Peggle instead of this.

Papa Pear Saga is a very different kind of game for the Saga brand. Without having to wrack one's brain over puzzles, it might appeal to those looking for a more relaxing experience. The control freaks out there might just find that lack of direction a frustration though.

Technically it is possible to complete all of the levels without using any of the power-ups, but with so much of the game based on chance the game is designed to try and make players reliant on power-ups to squeeze a few more dollars from players. The insidious design sours the fun of Papa Pear Saga's vibrant and cheery stages, making it a far wiser investment to just play through Peggle again instead.

For a developer that has made it's name by creating unoriginal games, it's almost a shame that what may be their most original game might also be their most boring. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with it's gameplay outside of the fact that it will ramp up the difficulty just so King has a chance to grab at your wallets. The problem is that shooting a little ball that bounces off object in order to score points just isn't that entertaining. A lot of the blow is cushioned by that fact that the game is free-to-play, but that still doesn't make it worth your time. With it's lackluster gameplay and attempts at getting you to use micro-transactions, you're better off skipping this one. Expand

hey look another money hungry game from the terrible excuse for a publisher known as king! yet another game in candy crush's shadow it's basically the same thing, just with a different title (except for the saga bit) I really can't wait for king to become a washed up has been, a day that can't come soon enough (damn) Expand

The only reason I gave a 1 is because it's a free app. The game mechanics (rebounds, trajectory, object contact) are crap, just to make you buy boosters. Don't spend one penny on this scam! Expand

0Let me use this qutation:"The fact that King.com is serving orders to game companies around the world, disallowing them from using the individual words "candy" or "saga" (and I assume "crush", too) in their game titles, even when the games are COMPLETELY unrelated, has inspired me to never play their games again."
