  • Summary: Record Run puts you in the middle of your music, chasing records and dodging obstacles to the beat in a crazy musical world. With gameplay levels created to play along with your music, this is a whole new way to run.

Run to the soundtrack of your own library in the latest rhythm game from the creators of Rock Band and Dance Central.

Record Run provides the necessary upbeat entertainment to keep you mildly amused on your phone for a small amount of time. Unfortunately there isn’t enough replay value to keep this app on your iPhone or iPad for an elongated amount of time.

Record Run offers a neat twist that sadly wears thin quickly making it worth considering depending on your love of music.

Nothing about Record Run is unforgivably broken, but nothing is spot-on, either. It’s like listening to a favorite song sung by a different artist in the wrong key; it’s familiar and almost enjoyable, but it never gets stuck in your head like the real thing.

It’s not offensively bad, but Record Run just doesn’t hit its marks. You can obviously give it a shot since it’s free, but don’t expect it to grab you for days. There’s simply too little of Harmonix’ knack for music games on offer for that.

You never feel in time with the music, the scattershot levels will infuriate those looking for their next auto-runner, and the IAPs are horrendous.

Harmix has given us Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Just Dance. But was it all luck? Their latest effort makes us think that might be the case.
